Chandan Yatra is a joyful 21-day summer festival (beginning on Akshaya Tritiya, usually April–May) when representative deities are anointed with cooling sandalwood paste.
What happens
In the evenings, the deities are taken out on beautifully decorated boats on the sacred Narendra Tank for ceremonial rides — a festive, photogenic sight.
